Taoiseach Enda Kenny has invited Opposition leaders to government buildings this morning for a special meeting to discuss last Friday's European Summit.

Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin, Sinn Féin's Gerry Adams and Independent Catherine Murphy are to be briefed on the outcome of the meeting, which could result in another referendum here in the spring.

The summit in Brussels saw a deal reached between 26 of the 27 EU member states on tighter fiscal rules aimed at saving the single currency, with Britain the only EU member to opt out.

It is likely that Mr KEnny will broach the subject of a referendum with the opposition leaders at this morning's meeting, which takes place before the usual Cabinet meeting.
