Israel: Five dead in port blast

An explosion at the seaport in the Israeli city of Ashdod killed five people today. Five others were injured.

An explosion at the seaport in the Israeli city of Ashdod killed five people today. Five others were injured.

Police said the blast appeared to be the result of an accident, not a terror attack.

The explosion took place in a workshop at the port, they said. No other details were immediately available.

Ashdod is one of Israel’s two largest seaports.
