A Qantas Boeing 747 suffering mid-air mechanical trouble was forced to land in Bangkok last night.

Officials say the Sydney-bound flight developed difficulties soon after taking off from Bangkok airport and had to turn back.

Meanwhile, a Qantas Boeing 737-400 yesterday lost cabin pressure mid-flight en route from Adelaide to Melbourne in Australia, forcing the pilot to dive 26,000 feet and panicking passengers.

Last November, Quantas temporarily suspended flights of its Airbus A-380 superjumbos after an engine on one exploded after take-off from Singapore, damaging the plane.
