Worries about the economy are hitting consumer spending, a new report warns today.
The report by property consultants CB Richard Ellis says that "concerns about rising unemployment, a stagnant housing market and less favourable economic conditions generally" are contributing to tougher trading in recent weeks.
However, the report adds that, relative to other European economies, "the Irish retail market continues to perform well".
Director of Retail Agency at CB Richard Ellis, Cormac Kennedy, said he was confident that demand for retail accommodation in the Irish market would remain strong.
