The Health Service Executive (HSE) has agreed to pay staff travel and subsistence claims, due to them this month, on time.

The HSE will now refund the staff for expenses they incurred during the course of their work, weeks earlier than planned.

Earlier in the week the HSE warned that because of a lack of funds they would be unable to make the payments until January.

This evening's confirmation comes after intervention from the Health Minister James Reilly, who had made it clear that he was not in favour of the move.
