Royal Bank of Scotland and its partners in the battle for ABN Amro said today they expected to launch their offer for the Dutch bank in mid-July.
The team, which includes Fortis of Belgium and Spain’s Santander, is hoping its £48bn (€71bn) proposal will prove more attractive to ABN shareholders than an offer already on the table from UK banking giant Barclays.
The update from the consortium added that the banks were making good progress on regulatory change of control and other competition filings.
