The United Nations has agreed to delay its fact-finding mission to the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank after Israel objected to the make-up of the three-man delegation.

Israel’s UN Ambassador, Yehunda Lancry, said Israel wants more military and counter-terrorism experts added to the team, assurances that it would confine its activities to Jenin and a commitment to also investigate activities by Palestinian militants in the camp.

Despite the delay, the mission is expected to arrive in the West Bank this weekend.

The Palestinians have accused Israel of conducting a massacre in Jenin and of burying bodies in a mass grave.

Israel has vehemently denied the accusations and said the vast majority of the dead were gunmen killed in action.
