Labour Party leader Ruairi Quinn is expected to announce his front-bench team later today.
The announcement is expected at the end of a two-day meeting of the Labour parliamentary party following their failure to increase their Dail showing in the recent election.
Former Junior Minister Joan Burton, who was re-elected after losing her seat in 1997, is widely expected to get a key front-bench position, while the finance portfolio is set to go to either Brendan Howlin or Pat Rabbitte.
Among the others expected to get places on the shadow cabinet are Cork north-central TD Kathleen Lynch, Eamon Gilmore and Joe Costello, the former Labour leader in the Seanad.
