Holy Cross School closed as violence flares

Violence has flared close to the Holy Cross School in Ardoyne in Belfast.

Violence has flared close to the Holy Cross School in Ardoyne in Belfast.

There have been clashes between parents of children and loyalists and police say cars have been attacked and windows broken.

At one stage parents and schoolgirls were blockaded into the school.

The school says it will not open tomorrow as a result of the trouble.

There are also unconfirmed reports of an incident on the Crumlin Rd, it appears a car drove at a woman knocking her down.
