Minimum wage to rise next month

The national minimum wage is to increase from next month.

The national minimum wage is to increase from next month.

The hourly rate will rise from £4.40 to £4.70 from July 1.

The increase is the first of two agreed by the social partners and accepted by the Government under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness.

The second will see a rise to £5 per hour from October 1, 2002.
