Police in the North have arrested a man and a woman in connection with the shooting of an off-duty PSNI officer in Co Tyrone last night.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was shot a number of times in the arm while sitting in his car at traffic lights in Dungannon.

The incident happened on Circular Road at around 5.30pm, just after the victim had left work.

He managed to drive back to Dungannon Police Station, from where he was taken to hospital.

The shooting was very similar to a gun attack on another off-duty PSNI officer in Derry last week.

The Real IRA has claimed responsibility for that shooting.
