Gardaí in Cork are hunting for a rapist who attacked an Australian tourist in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí in Cork are hunting for a rapist who attacked an Australian tourist in the early hours of this morning.

It happened just after midnight in the grounds of a building owned by University College Cork. Gardaí have described the incident as particularly serious.

Superintendent Kieran McGann, who is leading the investigation, said the attacker befriended the victim in a pub yesterday evening and they were walking along Western Road when he assaulted and raped her.
