More than 2,500 homes around the country are without power tonight as Storm Imogen crosses the country.

The worst hit area is Timoleague in West Cork where 1,400 households have no electricity.

Over 650 families are without power in Miltown Malbay in County Clare.

Parts of Kerry, Galway, Longford, Donegal, Dublin and Wicklow have also been hit with power cuts.

A status Orange wind warning is in place for Counties Cork and Kerry until midday tomorrow.

"Westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 75 km/h with gusts of 100 to 130 km/h, strongest winds along the coast and on hills."

And Met Eireann's declared a Status Yellow advisory for the country as a whole due to Storm Imogen.

Update 12.10am: Motorists are being urged to watch out for fallen trees and debris on the roads this morning as a result of Storm Imogen.

A number of weather warnings are in place due to high winds - with the south west expected to be worst affected.

Anyone taking to the roads is reminded to slow down and to allow extra time for your journey.
