Teenager in hospital after sword attack

A teenager is recovering in hospital in Cork this morning after being attacked by a man with a sword in the early hours of this morning.

A teenager is recovering in hospital in Cork this morning after being attacked by a man with a sword in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened at Ashbrook Heights in Togher just before 6am.

It is understood the teenager was standing with a group of friends on waste ground when he was attacked.

He sustained a number of wounds and was rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

He is understood to be in a stable condition.
