An explosion tore through a mine in northern China today, leaving at least 123 workers missing, the government said.

An explosion tore through a mine in northern China today, leaving at least 123 workers missing, the government said.

The blast occurred in a mine in Tangshan, a city in Hebei province, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

Xinhua said 27 miners had escaped. It did not give any other details.
