Luiz Felie Scolari has withdrawn from the race to be England coach after complaining about the media intrusion into his life.

The current Portugal coach was in Germany to look at the facilities for his team ahead of the World Cup and in a scheduled press conference announced he was pulling out of contention.

He said: “I will not be the next England coach. I was one of numerous candidates. I will be the Portugal coach until the end of the World Cup.

“Last night there were 20 reporters outside my house. I don’t like this pressure so I will definitely not be coach of England.”
