A shooting at a dormitory at a university in Virginia in the US today left one person dead and another wounded, a state government official said.

A shooting at a dormitory at a university in Virginia in the US today left one person dead and another wounded, a state government official said.

The Virginia Tech state university posted an advisory on its website advising students that a shooting had occurred at a residence hall and a “gunman is loose on the campus”.

The university also told students to stay in their homes away from windows.
