A Wexford teenager has been cleared by a jury at the Central Criminal Court of raping a then 14-year-old schoolgirl at the Arklow "Sea Breeze" festival in July 2004.

The jury took two hours and ten minutes to find the 18-year-old accused not guilty on four charges of raping and sexually assaulting the girl on July 18, 2004.

He had denied one count each of rape, oral rape, anal rape and sexual assault on the same occasion and told gardaí that he was a virgin before he alleged the complainant "raped" him.

It was day-five of the trial.

Mr Justice Eamon de Valera thanked the jury of nine men and three women for its care and attention to the case and discharged the accused from the court
