A report into the 1970 Arms Trial is to be published by the Minister for Justice today.

A trawl of files relating to the controversial case was ordered in April following allegations of tampering with documents at Government level.

A widespread probe was undertaken at the Dept of Justice, the offices of the State Solicitor and the Attorney General and among Garda files.

The Taoiseach has given a commitment to set up a further inquiry if the initial investigation proved any of the allegations.

Minister O'Donoghue will make a statement on the report in the Dail tomorrow.
