Tomorrow's meeting at Newcastle is subject to a precautionary inspection at 8am.

Clerk of the course James Armstrong reports the Gosforth Park venue to have seen some heavy rain over the weekend, but there is also the threat of overnight frost.

He said: “We are going to have move some of the rails about as we had more rain than we had hoped over the weekend.

“There are a few patches of standing water but we can avoid them and will move the rails near the road crossing area so we are racing on fresher ground. We will also omit fence eight as it is very wet on the landing side there.

“The worst of the wet spots will be dealt with and although we are forecast a possible -1C overnight, if it drops no lower we should be fine.”
