Taxi driver cautioned for football during fare

A taxi driver has been disciplined for watching a football match in his car while ferrying passengers around.

Passengers were stunned when the cab driver - who has not been named - put his mobile phone on his vehicle's dashboard and began to watch the soccer fixture during his rounds.

According to a Charnwood Borough Council spokesman, the man has since admitted two offences of "misconduct regarding the charging of fares" and for failing to "take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of passengers".

The taxi driver was given nine penalty points on his licence and told if 12 were exceeded his taxi licence would be revoked.
