A European Parliament committee has criticised the Government over the poor quality of water supplies in Carraroe, Co Galway and Troyswood, Co Kilkenny.

A European Parliament committee has criticised the Government over the poor quality of water supplies in Carraroe, Co Galway and Troyswood, Co Kilkenny.

The committee met officials from the Department of the Environment today to voice their concerns about the two areas.

Speaking afterwards, Irish MEP Pronsias de Rossa said the Government has promised to deal with the problems through schemes due to begin in 12 to 18 months' time.
