Shell has said it is "making good progress" towards sealing an oil leak in the North Sea.

The company has been laying concrete weights across a pipeline near the Gannet Alpha platform, more than 100 miles off Aberdeen in Scotland.

The operation should enable it to close off the valve where the oil is coming from.

More than 200 tonnes of oil have escaped so far, making it the worst oil spill in the region in more than a decade.
