Ireland have won the first test of this year’s Coca Cola International Rules Series, beating Australia by 59-53 in Melbourne.

Ireland have won the first test of this year’s Coca Cola International Rules Series, beating Australia by 59-53 in Melbourne.

Australia dominated the first two quarters of the game but an own goal at the end of the third brought Ireland level heading into the last 20 minutes.

Another goal from Ciaran McGeeney put Ireland ahead in the last quarter, helping Brian McEniff’s side to draw first blood ahead of the second test next week.
