Philip Carberry was reunited with Champion Hurdle winner Sublimity on Friday morning and reported the seven-year-old to be stronger than ever.
Trainer John Carr made no secret of the fact his stable star had piled on the pounds during his summer break and that it was going to be a race against time to get him back on track before Christmas.
However, Carr is still hoping that the Boylesports.com International at Cheltenham on December 15 will be his first port of call.
“We are hoping to have him ready for the Boylesports and even though he is very heavy we will train him with that in mind,” said Carr.
“It’s 10 weeks on Saturday but the ”Fighting Fifth“ (at Newcastle) will definitely come too early so it’s more than likely the Boylesports.
“As long as anything doesn’t happen to him they have all got him to beat (in the Champion Hurdle) and I said this last year that it wouldn’t bother me if he went straight to Cheltenham.
“It’s a bit different to last year when nobody was talking about him but unless something comes out of the woodwork soon I imagine he is going to be the one they all have to beat.
“Philip came to sit on him on Friday morning and he said he’s in great form and feels a lot stronger than last year.
“We still have 10 weeks to get the weight off him for the Boylesports but it could just be Christmas before you see him.”
