2007 Special Olympics get underway in China today
The opening ceremony of the 2007 Special Olympics is due to take place later today in the Chinese city of Shanghai.
Almost 150 Irish athletes are competing in 11 different sports at the 10-day event after months of training and preparation.
They have been joined in Shanghai by hundreds of family members and volunteer helpers.
Last night, the team was treated to a reception by the Irish ambassador and had their photos taken with actor Colin Farrell.
