The Crisis Pregnancy Agency is to spend more than €4.5m on a number of projects to promote sex education in schools and at home.
The Agency is working with the Department of Education and the HSE to develop a DVD and lesson plan for teenagers.
The CPA says the programme is essential to further reduce the number of teenagers having babies.
Less than 2,500 teenagers gave birth in 2005, compared with more than 3,000 in 2001.
