Teachers union to ballot on strike action

The ASTI is to ballot its 18,000 members on industrial action.

The ASTI is to ballot its 18,000 members on industrial action.

The union - which represents secondary school teachers - said it will ask its members to vote on up to two days of industrial action to be taken in co-ordination with other public service unions.

It's in response to the pension levy, and what the union said is the inequitable policy in dealing with the recession.
