Live register hits 20 year low

Figures released this afternoon confirm that the number of people signing on the live register has fallen to a 20 year low.

Figures released this afternoon confirm that the number of people signing on the live register has fallen to a 20 year low.

Just under 134,000 people were signing on in May that is the lowest total since November 1981.

However, the news is not all good, when seasonally adjusted the total is up 2,000 or 0.1%. The unemployment rate is now 3.7%.
