Two Irish adventurers are about to begin an expedition across Antarctica using ski-buggies pulled by kites.

Jamie Young and Brian Cunningham, both from Co Antrim, plan to 'sail' 600 miles across the continent in 10 days.

The two men, who run the Killary Adventure Centre in Galway, were flown from Chile to the South Pole and have now reached Patriot Hills, from where they hope to begin their trip today.

Their plan is to sail a distance of about 1,000 kilometers in the buggies in a week or 10 days.
