Japan will remain on military alert because of the threat of more missile tests by North Korea, a Defence Agency spokesman said today.

“There is a possibility that North Korea will act again,” Said Defence Agency deputy director Takemasa Moriya, referring to the communist country’s seven missile tests.

Takemasa said Japan’s military will be kept on alert for more launches.

Japan “cannot downplay” North Korea’s missile programme, given the fact that the country is apparently trying to perfect long-range missile capability, Moriya said.
