Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has set himself an ambitious new year’s resolution – to force his way into Fabio Capello’s England side.

Despite playing regularly for the under-21s, the 23-year-old is yet to feature for the senior side.

However, following Capello’s unveiling as England head coach yesterday, the former West Ham player has renewed hope that he might be given the chance to step up.

“My Christmas wish would have to be an England call-up,” he told The Sun.

“I would love to make my England debut and I would be very happy if I got that opportunity. I still do want to play for my country and I hope I don’t get overlooked and people don’t forget about me.”
