Patrick "Dutchy" Holland, who was implicated in the murder of journalist Veronica Guerin, is to make a fresh appeal today to be released on bail.

Mr Holland is serving 20 years in jail for the possession and distribution of cannabis.

This was reduced to 12 years in jail by the Court of Criminal Appeal.

Holland claims he was not given a fair trial because he alleges evidence in statements was not disclosed to his legal team.

The application will be made shortly at Clover Hill Prison in Clondalkin, Co Dublin.
