Stan Collymore has launched a scathing attack on Andy King following comments by the Swindon boss that he would rather quit than have the former England striker at the County Ground.
King, whose side are currently bottom of the Second Division, claimed that following Collymore's troubled past, he would not have him at the club if he were to come for nothing and receive only £16 a week.
But Collymore, who has been told that he can leave Premiership strugglers Bradford City and last week saw a move to Vfb Stuttgart fall through, feels King should look at his own troubles before lambasting others.
Collymore said: "I would just like to tell King not to concern himself slagging off proven Premiership goalscorers and threatening to resign when surely he should be concentrating on his own team's miserable predicament at the foot of Division Two.
"He neither has the managerial track record nor standing in the game to be passing such unwarranted comments on me, especially as I have had no contact whatsoever from anyone at Swindon Town FC.
"Any interest from me would only be in the event of managerial vacancy.
"Andy if I were you - I wouldn't worry about resignation - it seems your managerial ability will probably get you the sack."
His outburst is the latest in a long line of controversial incidents involving Collymore, whose career has been blighted by arguments with high-profile bosses including John Gregory and Peter Taylor.
