Boxing: De La Hoya looking toward three big fights

Oscar De La Hoya says he wants to fight Felix Trinidad Jr, Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins in the next 15 months and then retire on his 30th birthday.

Oscar De La Hoya says he wants to fight Felix Trinidad Jr, Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins in the next 15 months and then retire on his 30th birthday.

The WBC super welterweight champion was speaking ahead of his next title defence against Roman Karmazin on December 8.

"In order to making boxing history and to be respected in the boxing world, you have to take on the legit champions," he said.

"The legit champion right now is Hopkins. He's making all the noise, not taking anything from Mosley."

But the three fights De La Hoya wants might not take place because of the customary reluctance of champions to risk their titles against other champions.

"We should all fight each other and mix it all up," said De La Hoya. "That's going to create excitement for boxing. I know I'm willing to do it. I know Bernard Hopkins is willing to do it, because he's such a tough Philadelphia kid that he's hungry to fight anybody and make anybody and make money. It's all about Trinidad and Shane Mosley stepping up to the plate."
