Investigations are continuing into Monday's horrific car crash in Co Monaghan that claimed the lives of a pregnant woman, her unborn baby and two best friends.

Investigations are continuing into Monday's horrific car crash in Co Monaghan that claimed the lives of a pregnant woman, her unborn baby and two best friends.

Forensic investigators are piecing together the final movements of three cars before they collided on the N2 near Carrickmacross at around 7pm on Monday night.

Three people who were injured are still being treated in hospital - one man is said to be in a critical condition.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
