Commission launches campaign to encourage voting in October referendums

A campaign gets underway today encouraging people to vote in the Referendums on October 4.

The Referendum Commission is also undertaking an advertising campaign, explaining what people are being asked to vote on.

A guide book will be distributed to every home in the country setting out what the changes to the Constitution are about.

One Referendum relates to the abolition of the Seanad while the second asks whether people agree with the establishment of a Court of Appeal and other changes to the Courts system.

The Commission has also set up a website, www.referendum.ie which gives additional information on the referendums.

Polling stations will be open from 9am until 10pm on Friday, October 4.
