Always just off the pace set by Misaro, the 24-year-old Italian, who was born in Milton Keynes, collared his rival to score by a head close home from Danish Blues, with the long-time leader third.

It was the five-year-old’s first run for trainer Milton Bradley, who saddled three in the race.

“I didn’t think he’d win as Briery Lane, who came fourth, gallops all over him at home,” said Bradley.
