Child killer 'to marry vampire-attack boyfriend'

British child killer Beverley Allitt, dubbed the ‘‘Angel of Death’’, is to marry her "vampire" boyfriend at their prison’s chapel, it was reported today.

British child killer Beverley Allitt, dubbed the ‘‘Angel of Death’’, is to marry her "vampire" boyfriend at their prison’s chapel, it was reported today.

Allitt, 31, who was given 13 life sentences for murdering four children and attempting to murder nine others in her care when she was a nurse, is to wed Mark Heggie, 34, in St Francis Chapel of Rampton Hospital, Retford, Notts, according to reports.

Allitt was sent to Rampton in 1993 after being found guilty of the murders at Grantham and Kesteven Hospital, Lincs.

Her victims ranged from a seven-week-old baby to an 11-year-old child.

Allitt, held indefinitely at Rampton, wants to marry in a traditional white bridal gown and have a wedding cake.

The couple have applied to the hospital’s chiefs for permission to tie the knot, according to reports.

Former slaughterhouse worker Heggie was sent to Rampton in 1992 after attacking 63-year-old Alison Da Costa in Golders Green, north west London and then drinking her blood.

The pair see each other three times a week at hospital dances and claim to have been engaged for 12 months.

A spokeswoman for Rampton said: ‘‘I can’t comment on individual patients relationships but they obviously do develop in the hospital.

‘‘They are monitored by doctors and other staff and if the patients are found to be of sound mind and they want to marry then they can do so.

‘‘Relationships do develop. In fact, they are good for patients because it is part of their ‘normalisation’,’’ she added.
