Outspoken Fianna Fáil TD Mary O' Rourke has rowed back on her prediction that the party faces wipeout in the General Election.

Outspoken Fianna Fáil TD Mary O' Rourke has rowed back on her prediction that the party faces wipeout in the General Election.

Before Brian Cowen stepped down as leader, the Longford Westmeath TD said the party would only win 12 or 13 seats.

Speaking in Athlone last night, she dismissed suggestions that party members were getting a hard time on the doorsteps, saying that her canvass is going well.

"Brilliant, absolutely brilliant," she said. "I mean all these tales that you keep talking about - I got no door slammed, I got no rudeness, I only met friendship and civility from everybody."
