The X Factor' has been forced to move the bootcamp phase of the competition out of London because of the Olympics.

Around 200 acts who make it through the first round of auditions after receiving a yes from the show's judges traditionally head to the UK capital to find out if they make it to the final elimination round, but due to the Olympic Games in the city, producers have been forced to consider other places.

An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "The Olympics has posed a huge problem for us this year. London has always been the choice venue for boot camp. But now we are having to rethink it, and fast.

"The place is completely booked out. It would be a nightmare to stage it during the Games so we'll have to move."

Manchester and Birmingham are currently the favourite cities.

This series has been beset with problems from the outset after Dannii Minogue turned down a huge pay offer to make a spectacular return to the show following the departure of Kelly Rowland after just one season.

In her place a number of guest judges – including Geri Halliwell, Rita Ora and Anastacia – took part before producers finally settled on 'Poison' singer Nicole Scherzinger to join Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh on the panel.
