The Dakar Rally is underway, with competitors taking part in a ceremonial drive from Buenos Aires to Victoria.
Although the first stage was not against the clock, 430 starters travelled the 230-mile route to mark the start of the 16-day event.
Among them were former world rally champion Carlos Sainz, who holds the title in the cars category.
Sunday’s stage between Victoria and Cordoba will mark the first full race day.
The race will take competitors across Argentina and into Chile and is the third consecutive year it has been held in those two countries.
