North Cork assault: Man due in court today

A man is due in court in Limerick today charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a woman in Cork last weekend.

A man is due in court in Limerick today charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a woman in Cork last weekend.

The man, who is 21, was arrested at a house in the Charleville area of Cork early yesterday and brought to Mallow garda station for questioning.

His detention followed the alleged sexual assault of a 62-year-old woman in the Turrets area of Charleville at 10.15pm as she returned home on Sunday night after playing bingo.

The victim managed to escape and raise the alarm with a passing motorist.

The man who was arrested is due before Newcastlewest District Court in Co Limerick this morning.
