Poll shows rise in FG support as Labour fails to make ground

Support for the Government is at its highest level in three years, according to a poll to be published tomorrow.

The new opinion poll shows Fine Gael support on the rise although Labour has failed to gain ground in the last three months.

The Millward Brown poll in tomorrow’s Sunday Independent shows Fine Gael support on 29%, up five points from the last similar poll at the end of July.

And while only 31% of voters say they are happy with the Government, that’s the highest satisfaction rating the Coalition has had in these polls for three years.

However the support does not seem to be translating to Labour which still only polls at 7%, unchanged compared to the poll three months ago.

Fianna Fáil gains one point to stand on 24%, while Sinn Féin are unchanged on 21%, so it is the independents and others who lose ground.

Their combined share of the vote is 19%, five points down compared to the last poll three months ago.
