I let everyone down, says shamed Katona

Kerry Katona has finally broken her silence on the video of her snorting cocaine, telling the Sunday Mirror she had let her fans down.

The mother-of-four said: "I am so sorry and so ashamed of my actions. I know I let everyone down - my fans, my family and people I work with.

"It was a moment of weakness and stupidity and I regret it terribly."

Katona could face a police investigation over footage allegedly showing her taking cocaine, it was today revealed.

The 28-year-old returned to the UK yesterday after fleeing to Tenerife following the News of the World's publication of photographs and video material apparently showing her snorting the class A drug in her home in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

The reality star was dropped as the face of retail chain Iceland following the revelations.

Last week plain-clothed police officers were spotted at her family home.

Today Cheshire Police said they could not rule out taking further action against the troubled star if presented with new evidence.

A spokesman said: "We do not comment on individuals until a point in an investigation were a person is charged with an offence.

"In general terms it is very difficult to prosecute anyone for drugs offences without physical evidence of the alleged substance.

"However, should any individual have any evidence or information in relation to this particular matter they are advised to contact Cheshire Police."

The former Atomic Kitten singer, who has endured a long and public battle with alcohol and drugs as well as a roller-coaster romantic life, fronted Iceland's advertising campaigns for four years.

An interview with Katona on 'This Morning's last October earned her notoriety as she slurred her words and appeared confused.

She later said this was due to medication she was taking for her bipolar disorder.

She has been the subject of several reality TV shows on MTV, most recently 'Kerry Katona: What's The Problem?'.

Losing the six-figure Iceland contract will not help her financial troubles - last August she was declared bankrupt after failing to pay off a £417,000 (€480,196) tax bill and in May this year she told GMTV that she was "skint".
