The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has expressed its "dismay and disappointment" that information regarding the ongoing investigation into RTÉ has entered the public domain.
The BAI was responding to a report published in today's Irish Times, giving details of briefing notes, prepared for the board of the Authority as part of its investigation into the RTÉ 'Mission to Prey' programme.
"The BAI will review the matter to seek to ascertain how such information was made available," the Authority said in a brief statement.
The episode of the 'Prime Time Investigates' series was broadcast in May of last year and resulted in a defamation settlement with Fr Kevin Reynolds.
Fr Reynolds' solicitor Robert Dore said he is also surprised that the information was leaked to the media.
"I find it somewhat suprising that the Irish Times can get hold of this information when it won't be furnished to me or to Fr Kevin," he said.
"From what I have read, it seems to be quite damning of RTÉ."
