1,000 passengers evacuate stricken liner
A cruise ship believed to be carrying more than 1,000 passengers has run aground off the Caribbean island of Nevis.
The Mistral, operated by European line Festival Cruises, has run up on a sand bank.
The ship is about 300 yards off shore and taking on 2,400 gallons of water per hour.
Crews are working to rescue the passengers from the boat.
There is no information about the condition of the passengers or what their nationalities are.
The St Kitts coastguard is on the scene and is likely to move the passengers to a ferry boat that normally runs between the country's two islands.
St Kitts authorities believe the ship had left the British Virgin Islands and was bound for Antigua when it ran ashore.
