The 67-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains were brought to Letterkenny Hospital, where a post mortem was yesterday carried out by the State Pathologist, Marie Cassidy.

The examination showed that he died in suspicious circumstances, and a murder inquiry has been launched by investigating officers at Letterkenny Garda Station.

The scene remains sealed off for a technical examination and no arrests have yet been made.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station 074 9167100, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
