Representatives of the Irish Farmers Association are due to meet the Taoiseach today to discuss their concerns about cutbacks in the agriculture sector.

The IFA says its members will not accept further cuts in this December's budget until other sectors have paid their fair share.

It says the Government has already disproportionately reduced its support for vital farm schemes by more than 20%.

It also says farm incomes have fallen 13% over the past year and could fall by another 25% this year due to low commodity prices.
