A former member of the campaign team for Senator David Norris has said that he still wants to be President.

Liam McCabe, who was the senator's campaign co-ordinator has told the Irish Independent that he wants to be president as much today as he did in March when he launched his bid.

Senator Norris withdrew from the contest last month amid controversy about representations he made on behalf of a former partner.

A weekend opinion poll showed one in three voters still wants him to run for the Aras.
